A home away from home, in the trade wind

Kas na Nort, ‘House facing North’, is a stylish holiday villa in a unique setting. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, it offers a spacious accommodation for ten people. At the back you enjoy a magnificent view of the rugged plain and the Caribbean sea that splashes high against the steep coast. Yet the villa is in the security of the friendly and quiet residential area of Sunset Heights.

Kas na Nort is your home away from home. Watch TV or listen to music in the living room. Connect to fast WiFi all around the house and pool. At other times you might like to stretch out in the deck chairs along the pool or dream away in the hammock on the porch. Enjoy the view through the French doors leading to the balcony. Prepare a dinner in the fully equipped kitchen or have a poolside BBQ. It’s all there, waiting for you.

Living room, dining room and a kitchen that lacks nothing

A small entrance hall leads into the spacious living room with its high, sloping ceiling. On your right is a comfortable sofa set, on your left a second sitting area by the TV.

Through the dining room the living room opens onto the large covered porch, right beside the pool. The open kitchen with breakfast bar has granite worktops, an American fridge-freezer with ice dispenser, a dishwasher, oven, microwave and a five-burner gas hob. It is further fully equipped with a toaster, a regular coffee maker, a Nespresso machine, a Senseo machine, a hand blender, a rice cooker and more. Next to the kitchen is a storeroom with, among other things, the ironing board, the iron and several cool boxes.

Besides the local channels you can receive some 60 other channels, including NPO 1, 2 and 3, BVN, Nickelodeon, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, Discovery, Disney and various music channels. With your laptop or tablet you have internet throughout the house over the fast WiFi.

Downstairs, there are two bedrooms in the right wing, the room on the backside of the house has sliding doors to the porch. These bedrooms are connected by a small hallway that also leads to the second bathroom equipped with two washbasins, shower and toilet. The left wing comprises also two bedrooms and a third bathroom, which also features a spacious shower, a vanity unit with sink and mirror, and a toilet. The bedroom at the rear has its own entrance and a kitchenette with a gas stove and refrigerator.

Upstairs, the stairs lead to a landing which includes a kitchenette with an electric stove and refrigerator. The landing gives access to a large balcony facing north with a beautiful view. It also leads to the Blue room, which is the master bedroom. Here, a walk-in closet provides ample room for your personal belongings. French doors lead to the balcony, where you will find a table with comfortable chairs, a deck chair and a hammock as well. The roomy ‘master’ bathroom contains a double washbasin, shower, toilet and bidet.

All bedrooms have quiet split-unit air conditioners and, except for the living/bedroom at the left rear, built-in closets with mirrored doors. Ceiling fans in every bedroom (and in the living and dining room) keep you cool whenever needed, also if you prefer not to use the air conditioning. All bed linen and towels (including one beach towel per person) are provided. The whole house has 220V sockets, so you can bring your shaver and the like without an adapter. A solar water heater provides hot water throughout the house.

04Pool & garden

A pool on the edge of the cliff

As soon as you reach the front door, the enticing sight of the swimming pool at the back of the house presents itself. The swimming pool (10×4 meters, 1.20-2.00 meters deep) lies at the edge of the cliff with a beautiful view over a protected natural area and the northern coast. The pool has small sitting areas with jets. The covered porch ensures a shady place to sit at all times. The porch runs into the sun terrace where you will find deck chairs and an outdoor shower. The pump house contains the pool pump (entirely the caretaker’s concern), but also a washing machine and a barbecue for your convenience. Here, you will also find adequate space for storing any diving or snorkelling equipment, or other personal belongings that would only be in the way in the house. The back of the yard borders on a steep cliff behind the pool, marked off for your safety.

Landscaping including the planting of twelve palm trees has resulted in a lush tropical garden with flowering bougainvilleas and many other tropical plants. At the front of the house, a carport offers shade for your parked car behind lockable rolling gates. Both the front and the sides of the yard are properly fenced or walled in.

05For our little guests

A crib, a playpen and a fence for the pool

Much thought has been given to the little ones. A solid crib, a playpen, a high chair, a changing mat and a baby’s bath are available, ready for use. A second child under three years can be accommodated in a foldable cot. There is also a chest containing some toys.

Special care was given to the safety of young children. The whole yard is well enclosed. A removable safety fence protects the back area over the whole breadth, cutting off access to both the swimming pool and the cliff edge. This fence is put up only when a young guest is expected. Both the bottom and top of the staircase are equipped with safety gates and all accessible electricity sockets have been protected.

Be sure to take your binoculars

If you enjoy watching birds, be sure to take your binoculars with you! The area around Kas na Nort is a bird’s paradise. Around sunset the owls (or ‘palabrua’s’ as they are called in Curaçao) appear, floating majestically along the cliff at eye level. In the daytime, groups of green parakeets fly off and on with a great deal of hullabaloo. Hummingbirds are attracted by the flowers in the garden. Bananaquit, Oriole, Andes Sparrow, Mockingbird and little Mòfi are also frequent visitors to the garden. Encounters with many beautiful birds, for example Flamingo, and various gulls, egrets and herons are also possible in other parts of the island.

And yes, the iguana drops by as well.

  • Wij mochten in februari maar liefst vier weken vertoeven in Kas na Nort. Wat een fantastische plek en heerlijk huis!! Sunset Heights ligt ideaal om het eiland te bezichtigen of met de auto een van de prachtige strandjes te bezoeken, maar ook om Willemstad in te gaan. Door het zwembad en alle faciliteiten die het huis verder biedt is het echter ook heerlijk om 'thuis' te blijven en zelf wat te koken. Wij hebben eerder gelogeerd in een huis bij Jan Thiel, maar hebben de drukte van daar geen moment gemist en juist genoten van de rust, de vogeltjes die trouw iedere dag hun suiker kwamen snoepen en het geweldige uitzicht op zee. Helemaal tot rust gekomen keren wij weer huiswaarts met de intentie om zeker nog een keer terug te komen hier.

  • Net weer terug van een geweldige vakantie op Curacao en het fijne en voortreffelijke vakantiehuis”Kas na Nort” Wij hebben en drie weken met heel veel plezier gezeten. Vooral het zwembad en het mooie huis en dan zo belangrijk heerlijk op de wind. Wij hebben boven zonder airco en alleen met fan kunnen slapen! Natuurlijk hoor je soms wel de honden, dat hoort gewoon bij het land. Een vakantiehuis om zeker weer terug te komen. We hebben dan ook alweer geboekt voor volgend jaar.

  • Wat een fantastisch mooi huis. Ik heb er enorm van genoten. Het mooie grote schone zwembad met heerlijk warm water altijd door de zon kijkt vanuit de hoogte uit over de natuur en de zee. Je ziet in de verte het water tegen de rotsen springen. Veel mooie vogels en leguanen. Het huis is uitstekend onderhouden en zit strak in de verf, werkelijk prachtig. De buurt voelt erg veilig en de buren zijn aardig en rustig. De masterbedroom op de bovenste verdieping heeft een geweldig terras. De keuken is met alles voorzien wat je nodig hebt, inlusief basisbenodigdheden zoals olie, kruiden, thee, zoete sojasaus, etc. Zo voelt het meteen als thuiskomen. Ik kan iedereen deze mooie kant van het eiland aanraden, overdag speel je toch al vaak in het blauwe water aan de andere kust, nu krijg je zo ook iets mee van de andere kant. Qua afstand is dat allemaal prima te doen, daar zou ik het zeker niet voor laten. Verhuurders en de beheerders zijn erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam en reageren snel op alles. Het huis heeft dus alles wat je nodig hebt, ben er soms ook niet weggeweest en heb hele dag en avond van zwembad en tuin genoten. Dus een vijsterren van mijn kant, wat een prachtige woning! Dank voor alles!

  • Voor vakantie met diverse familieleden zochten we een huis met 5 slaapkamers met airco, een lekker groot zwembad, een fijne porch en we wilden eens wat meer aan de andere kant van het eiland verblijven dan het ons goed bekende Banda Bou. Na een lange zoektocht op internet kwamen we uit bij Kas na Nort. De foto's en verhalen trokken ons erg aan, dus uiteindelijk geboekt. Bij aankomst was het zeker geen teleurstelling! Wat een heerlijk huis zeg, prachtig uitzicht, super geplaatst ten opzichte van de zon, netjes, een heerlijke porch met een lekker zwembad en goede service. De communicatie met Henk en Gerda verliep super en zo ook met de beheerder Hilde. Wij zouden graag nog een keer langskomen!

  • Erg genoten van deze fantastische ruime, zeer goed onderhouden vakantievilla en tuin, midden op het eiland, met een fantastisch uitzicht. Het contact met zowel de eigenaresse / Gerda als de beheerders / Hilde als zeer warm en behulpzaam ervaren. Is zeer zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Bedankt voor het fijn verblijf! Grts Saskia en Tommy

  • Wij willen Henk en Gerda bedanken voor de gastvrijheid, dat wij hun prachtige villa 2 weken mochten gebruiken Een heerlijk huis op een geweldige plek, voor ons was het de 6e keer in Kas na Nort, ook nu weer was het echt thuis komen Sunset Heights is een heerlijke rustige woon wijk Kas na Nort staat op een plek waar je heerlijk kunt ontspannen, voor activiteiten is alles prima te bereiken met een huur auto ( familie Carmen Jansen, geweldige mensen ) Wij mochten 2 weken heerlijk genieten un Kas na Nort, maar ook van het ontspannen eiland Curacao We hadden erg leuk contact met de pool man, altijd leuk om ervaringen te delen met locale mensen We hopen zeker weer een keer terug te komen Hartelijk dank Jos & Caroline

  • Wij hebben afgelopen augustus mogen genieten van een heerlijke vakantie op Curaçao. Kas Na Nort was voor ons de perfecte uitvalsbasis op het eiland. Het huis is heerlijk rustig gelegen in een net zo rustige woonwijk. Bij binnenkomst kun je niet anders dan meteen in verwondering naar de achterzijde van het huis lopen; het uitzicht is werkelijk fantastisch. In de verte hoor je de cicades zingen. Als deze stil zijn hoor je de golven op de rotsen beuken. Vogels fluiten, kolibri's zweven voorbij en ook leguanen bezoeken de tuin en soms het zwembad. En als je dan lekker in je hangmat ligt met een koud drankje en een goed boek dan heb je alles wat nodig hebt om heerlijk tot rust te komen. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien, wij hebben niets gemist aan uitrusting. En de handdoeken zijn zo zacht! De ligging is perfect wanneer je de beschikking over een auto hebt. Binnen 20 minuten zit je op het terras in Willemstad, en met iets meer dan drie kwartier ben je op de Westpunt. Dit huis staat bij ons bovenaan de lijst voor een volgende vakantie op het eiland!

  • Tijdens kerst 2020 en oud en nieuw 2021 hebben we 3 weken mogen verblijven in Kas Na Nort. Je kan werkelijk geen genoeg krijgen van het uitzicht over de noordkant van het eiland, wonderbaarlijk. Curaçao is een klein eiland, dus vanuit Sunset Hights zit je overal in een mum van tijd. Fijne plek omdat het één: veilig is omdat het een gated compound is en twee: een residential area, met andere woorden rustig en vrij van toerisme. Eigen vervoer is hierdoor wel noodzakelijk. Het is ons zeer goed bevallen en keren graag nog een keer terug naar deze prachtige locatie.

  • Wij zijn sinds twee dagen terug in het winterse Zweden en kijken met heel veel plezier terug op een heerlijke vakantie in Kas Na Nort. Een compleet huis met een prachtig uitzicht en een fantastisch zwembad dat groot genoeg is om er baantjes in te trekken. We waren bang dat het water koud was omdat het zwembad niet verwarmd is maar dat is absoluut niet nodig. Een heerlijke plons in het zwembad was juist de enige manier om de hitte te weerstaan. Het huis is werkelijk van alle gemakken voorzien, alles van kwalitatief hoog niveau dus geen doorgezakte bedden of versleten handdoeken. Fantastische service van Hilde en Gerrit die op alles meteen reageren. Ik kan Kas Na Nort warm aanbevelen, ook als je niet met een grote groep bent want de prijs is prima.

  • Wat een fantastisch huis om je vakantie op Curaçao door te brengen. We hebben met z'n tweetjes genoten en heerlijk geslapen in de master bedroom. We hebben niks gemist aan voorzieningen en iedere ochtend genoten van het uitzicht en het zwembad. 's Middags zijn we er op uitgetrokken. Tip: Een auto huren is niet duur maar wel een must om van het eiland te genieten. Het beheerders echtpaar zorgde voor een fijne ontvangst en uitgeleide en was met haar service de kers op de taart. Onvergetelijk.

  • We hebben een geweldige vakantie gehad in het mooie Kas na Noort. Met 2 gezinnen (elk met 2 kinderen) en opa en oma, is het door de praktische indeling goed te doen. Curacao was nieuw voor ons, vonden het een relaxt eiland met prachtige bezienswaardigheden en een fijne sfeer. Ook autorijden met een huurauto (wel nodig, zonder auto is het lastig op het eiland leek ons) ging prima, men is hoffelijk en niet toeterend of ergerlijk. We hebben genoten van het huis!! Het ligt heerlijk rustig, heeft een geweldig uitzicht en is van alle gemakken voorzien. Alle vogels gezien, alleen de uil niet (wel gehoord:). De kinderen waren haast niet uit het zwembad te slaan en de beheerders waren aanspreekbaar en prettig en ook de schoonmaak tussendoor (we waren er 2 weken) was heel prettig. En de huisregels, gebruiksaanwijzingen en tips van Henk en Gerda waren het ook fijn, alles met zorg gedaan en dat voel je. Al met al een topvakantie gehad!

  • We hebben genoten, zowel van Curaçao als van het huis! Het huis was perfect voor ons gezelschap van 9 en tijdelijk 10 personen, van alle gemakken voorzien, een prachtige tuin er omheen en het uitzicht is prachtig. Heerlijk om 's ochtends vroeg op te staan en op het uitkijkpunt te zitten, terwijl iedereen langzaam uit de kamers komt, aanschuift aan de tafel op het terras en geniet van de vogelgeluiden en de wind. We beschouwden het al gauw als `ons' huis en vonden het de mooiste uit de buurt. De kinderen (en eigenlijk ook de volwassenen) waren niet uit het zwembad weg te slaan en ook de hangmatten zijn veelvuldig gebruikt. Hartelijk dank dat we gebruik mochten maken van jullie prachtige plek!

  • Kas na Nort is een heerlijk huis met alle gemakken zodat het echt even als thuis voelde. De ligging van het huis is perfect, geweldig uitzicht en in een beveiligde wijk. Uitstekend huis voor gezinnen en er is goed gedacht aan de kleintjes. Wij hebben genoten 😀

Included

  • The rental price includes electricity up to a consumption of 12 KWH per night plus 4 KWH per (paying) person per night and including gas and water. Consideration was given to an average use of the air conditioning during the night hours by two persons per room.
  • You can use free unlimited internet with our Wifi network.
  • Cleaning of the house in between (on average 1x per week), bed and linen, tea towels, towels, beach towels, garden and pool maintenance is included.

Not included

  • More than the above mentioned electricity consumption (0.40 Eurocent per KWH). This is deducted from the deposit. The meter reading is recorded in your presence at the beginning and end of your stay.
  • Telephone costs: a fixed telephone is available. You can only use this phone for domestic landline calls.
  • Possible transport costs from / to the airport.

10Rental conditions

Rental conditions

Reservations and Payments

After reservations are made an invoice will be sent. A down payment of 50% of the rent price must be paid within 8 days. Payment implies that the client agrees with the rental conditions and finalizes the booking. If the down payment is not received within this time limit the reservation expires.

The remainder of the payment, including the costs of the final cleaning, the security deposit and the transfer costs must be paid not later than four weeks before the first day of the stay at the villa.

Option

It is possible to take an option on the vacation villa, for example in connection with the client’s need to arrange travel tickets in concordance with the rental period. In that case the owners and the client will agree on the conditions and period of the option in advance.

Cancellation

If a booking is cancelled the whole rent price will be charged. Clients are advised to conclude a cancellation insurance. If the villa can still be rented to others in the period that was allocated, the rent sum for the rented nights will be refunded after deduction of administration costs of €150.

The villa is managed by Hilde Bovendorp Beheer, Kaminda San Sebastian B7, Curaçao, phone: +59 99 8641555 or mobile: +59 99 5117086. The managers will receive you, show you the ropes and be available for all your questions about the accommodation.

Minimum Stay, Arrival and Departure

A minimum stay of 7 nights (christmas period 10 nights) is required, but arrival is possible on any day of the week. On the day of arrival the villa is available from 4 PM. Departure time is 10 AM (due to the final cleaning which must be carried out before the next guests arrive). The villa can be booked until your departure to the airport for 60% of the nightly rate, if available at the time of booking.

Damage to the Villa and its Assets

The client is required to take care of the villa and its furnishings with due diligence and to leave these behind tidy. If the client or his/her co-occupants cause any damage to the villa or its assets, this damage will be charged to the client. Any damages should be reported to the manager immediately or in any case before departure. The costs will be deducted from the security deposit. Small damages (up to 25 Euro) which have been reported, will not be charged. The client is requested to also report any deficiency not caused by himself to the manager as soon as possible.

Security deposit

The security deposit is €400 in case of occupation by up to four persons and €600 in case of occupation by more than four persons. The security deposit will be refunded within 14 days after departure from the vacation villa, after deduction of any damage costs and surplus consumption of electricity.

Special condition

Kas na Nort is situated on the edge of a steep cliff of about 25 meters deep. Occupants of the villa should keep a safe distance from the (marked) edge at all times. The accompanying swimming pool of 10×4 meters has a depth running from 1.20 m to 2.00 m. There is a safety fence available which can easily be placed between the villa and the swimming pool (and consequently the cliff) or disassembled as desired. Families with a young child or young children are required to keep this fence installed during their stay. Other occupants are also required to place the safety fence if any young child(ren) come(s) to visit.

However, the safety of the client and all of his/her co-occupants and visitors remains the responsibility of the client. The owners of the villa do not accept any liabilities.

11Location

High on the north side, in the breeze

The guarded neighbourhood of Sunset Heights is situated on an elevated area with beautiful views, north of main town Willemstad. Kas na Nort is positioned on the north rim of the area, and overlooks a nature reserve and the Caribbean Sea in northern direction. A constant breeze (North East Trade Wind) brings coolness to the nights, which even makes it possible to sleep without air conditioning if you like. The rugged north coast is beautiful to watch, but for bathing you will need to drive to the south coast. It is a 15-minute drive to downtown Willemstad or to the beaches of Piscadera and about 20-30 minutes to the beaches of Jan Thiel and Spanish Waters. The beautiful beaches of the Western part of Curaçao are about 30-40 minutes away. Supermarkets and larger shops are about 10 minutes away. Distance to Hato airport is about 15-20 minutes.

The Island of Curaçao

When you visit Curaçao you immediately think of sun, beach, swimming, diving and other water sports. But Curaçao has many more attractions, from swimming with the dolphins and an ostrich park to museums. Many restaurants offer a variety of cuisines, local and international.

The city center of Willemstad is on the UNESCO World Heritage List for a reason. Monumental buildings frame the natural harbor that divides the city into two halves, Punda and Otrobanda. Inviting terraces on the waterfront and in many other places in the city are of course not lacking.

Travelling to Curaçao

KLM has daily flights from Schiphol Amsterdam to Curaçao. The flying time is approximately nine hours on non-stop flights. With some flights a stop is made on Sint Maarten or Aruba, which increases the travel time by approx. 2 to 2.5 hours.

TUI has seven flights a week from Amsterdam to Curaçao.

Various airline companies from the United States and Canada fly to Curaçao, mostly via Miami, for example American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. From Curaçao there are also connections with South and Central American countries and with various islands in the Caribbean.
